We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Site Supervisor / Carpenter to join our rapidly growing company in Toronto, Ontario.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exceptional understanding of Construction industry principles and techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of trade scopes, scheduling, and coordination of work.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings (architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.).
  • Familiar with Ontario Building Codes, Ministry of Labour and Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations (OHSA).
  • Ability to rapidly build strong relationships with existing and new subtrades.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere and influence others.
  • Self-motivated and operates with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong carpentry skills.
  • Must own vehicle and possess a valid G license with a good driving record.
  • Able and willing to drive throughout the GTA and Southern Ontario as required.
  • Able and willing to work and stay overnight (6:00 pm to 2:00 am) and on weekends as required.
  • Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with all Microsoft office programs.
  • MS Project (an asset).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Secondary diploma required along with 5 years of highly successful Construction Supervisory experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain valid security clearances as required by client organizations (e.g., Infrastructure Ontario). These clearances are essential for site access and for fulfilling key job responsibilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$50.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the overall health & safety of the project site as follows:
    a. Maintain a clean and safe site.
    b. Support all health & safety initiatives and be an effective workplace role model through the promotion of health & safety.
    c. Complies with all Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and other related provincial legislation.
    d. Participates in all internal & external audits (ISO 45001:2018, MOL, etc.) and supports all initiatives.
    e. Acts as the ISO Internal Quality Auditor (if applicable).
    f. Acts as the site Health & Safety Representative (HSR).
    g. Understands and adheres to RMC Health & Safety Policies & Procedures.
    h. Understands and adheres to RMC Employee Handbook.
    i. Understands and adheres to the RMC OHSMS Manual Level I & II.
    j. Always guarantees safe practices ensuring no loss time injuries.
    k. Works to ensure no Ministry of Labour (MOL) work stop orders.
    l. Manages all form requirements using SiteDocs without fail.
    m. Ensure all assigned training is successfully completed.
  2. Schedule and supervise subtrades and vendors daily.
  3. Read and interpret various division drawings and specifications (architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, design, site plans, etc.).
  4. Manage subtrades on site to ensure project schedule is maintained.
  5. Assist in preparation of high-level project schedule.
  6. Log daily and weekly reports documenting construction progress, site conditions, inspections, issues, trade delays, etc.
  7. Issue RFIs (Requests for Information) in a timely manner to relevant stakeholders.
  8. Travel to multiple sites as required.
  9. Coordinate meetings with relevant stakeholders (City officials, clients, project managers, etc.) as required, issue meeting minutes.
  10. Coordinate with the landlord, property management group and/or client as required throughout the project life cycle.
  11. Liaise with support teams as required.
  12. Assist with general carpentry work, hanging doors, installing baseboards, door hardware, trim installation, minor framing & drywall, flooring, etc.
  13. Control expenses against budget and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
