JOB SUMMARY
AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) has an immediate opening for a full-time Construction Staking Survey Office Technician for our Tualatin, Oregon office. You will be responsible for processing field data from the survey crews and providing construction staking support. You will work closely with Project Surveyors, AKS survey crews, Project Engineers, and Project Managers on a mixture of private and public works projects. Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a crew chief construction staking.
- Knowledge of all phases of land surveying and map preparation, including land surveying techniques, survey control, and construction surveying.
- Knowledge and use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D software.
- Experience and use of Trimble Total stations, Dini levels, GNSS Receivers, SX10/12 scanners and TSC5 or TSC7 data collectors.
- Experience with Faro scanners and Faro Scene software.
- Experience with Trimble Access and Trimble Business Center.
- Ability to work efficiently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Associate’s or Bachelor of Science degree in Land Surveying or relevant field.
- Land Survey Intern (LSI) certification or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification preferred but not required.
- Must possess a valid US driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Perform office calculations and support field survey crews performing construction staking, property monumentation, topographic mapping, and boundary surveying.
- Provide construction staking prep for field crews utilizing alignments.
- Import field survey data and export survey data for field work utilizing Civil 3d Software and or Trimble Business Center.
- Perform quality control checks for conventional and GPS construction staking and surveys.
- Prepare various survey and staking documents utilizing Civil 3d software.
- Maintains a good working knowledge of survey procedures and quality control.
- Adhere to AKS workflows, standards, safety protocols, and procedures.
- Complete documentation for monthly progress billing.
- Communicate with internal staff and general contractors regarding project plans.
- Follow company safety protocols including state, federal, and site-specific regulations.
- Train and mentor others in the operation of survey instruments, automated electronic data collection, GPS equipment, and other specialized equipment.
- Train and mentor survey crew chiefs.
- Coordinate and maintain survey crew scheduling.
- Survey equipment tracking and management.
- Research and implementation of new survey technology.
- Manage as built process, including as built plan completion.
- Do what needs to be done.
