Description

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Construction Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the continued installation and coordination of OEM equipment at the Nexstar Energy Battery Plant. This role requires a strong understanding of all facets of industrial construction and OHSA safety regulations. Leading a team of construction professionals to complete the equipment installation while maintaining safety, schedule and budget.
Responsible for ensuring sitewide adherence to Nextstar’s policies and procedures, the successful candidate will coordinate the completion of daily audits, attend/chair meetings as required and record daily progress.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing facility construction, with at least five years in Superintendent or similar leadership role.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities, capable of leading team through complex equipment sets while sequencing the work for efficient flow between disciplines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with trade collective agreements is an asset.
  • Proven experience on large-scale construction projects involving cleanrooms, heavy MEP systems, and process equipment preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario construction regulations, and OHSA compliance.
  • Strong understanding of industrial construction sequencing, quality control, and safety management.
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades on a dynamic, multi-phase project.
  • Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6).

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily field operations and ensure all work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality specifications.
  • Coordinate, direct, and supervise all site construction activities and field personnel.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and OEMs to develop and maintain project schedules.
  • Enforce site safety policies and ensure compliance with OHSA, local regulations, and internal standards.
  • Monitor work progress and provide direction to resolve field issues.
  • Manage manpower planning, equipment use, and material delivery schedules.
  • Ensure proper documentation of work progress, delays, incidents, and changes.
  • Liaise with local inspectors, utility providers, and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Support commissioning and turnover processes for mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
