JOB SUMMARY:

The Construction Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing construction projects from start to finish. The job involves a wide range of responsibilities to ensure that construction projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field experience required.
  • Field experience of 10+ years in the construction trade may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree for an individual whose knowledge of construction is exceptional. That individual must also be exceptionally organized and effective at both oral and written communication.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • The Superintendent will be the main representative for the company throughout the construction phase of the project. As such, all communication from the office, owners, field personnel, subcontractors and suppliers will pass through them.
  • Communicates and enforces safety procedures and site rules.
  • Controls the material and labor budgets of a project.
  • Develops a schedule and cost-effective plan for completion of an assigned project.
  • Monitors budget throughout the project and communicates variances to the Project Manager as they occur.
  • Coordinates and schedules the work activities of tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, communicating to and via project foreman to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate.
  • Reviews production reports and make necessary changes to staff to ensure that the labor budget for the project is being followed.
  • Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to owners and/or architects; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
  • Ensure specifications and regulations outlined in the plans are followed.
  • Execute construction contracts according to terms of agreement.
  • Prepares and understands the process of creating Construction Bulletins and Change Orders when required.
  • Maintains records related to costs and inventory.
  • Enforces company safety policies and procedures. Immediately corrects safety violations while on-site. Reports Safety violations to Safety Director.
  • Enforces Employee Handbook policies and procedures. Reports violations to HR Manager.
  • Verifies code compliance on projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
