About the role In this hands-on leadership role, you will be an active member of the City’s Civil Construction team. You will act as the site supervisor on construction projects, responsible for overseeing the delivery of projects and providing guidance and leadership to the construction team. * Provide effective frontline leadership by supervising field employees and contractors in line with the City’s values. * Promote, lead and role‑model a strong safety‑first culture, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, policies, procedures and SWMS. * Manage the effective use of labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to deliver works efficiently and minimise disruption to the community. * Monitor work progress, resolve operational issues and report on performance, risks and emerging matters to the Project Engineer or Coordinator Construction. * Supervise the delivery of in‑house civil construction works including roads, drainage and associated infrastructure. * Interpret construction drawings, specifications and plans, including setting out works and levels as required. About you To be successful in this role, you will have Civil Construction experience (primarily in road construction and drainage), with the ability to read construction plans, perform site setups and engage with a diverse range of contractors, suppliers and stakeholders. * Proven ability to promote and maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OHS requirements. * Experience developing and delivering construction programs within operational constraints. * Experience with cost and quantity estimation, basic budgeting and monitoring expenditure. * Strong communication, problem‑solving and teamwork skills. * Ability to perform manual construction work and operate plant and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
