Geoshield Ltd are the UK’s leading specialist in independent testing, validation and verification of systems designed to protect against hazardous ground gas ingress.
Since 2015, construction and design standards internationally have begun to be restructured, with the aim of eliminating all possible factors that relate to the failure of systems applied to protect against life threatening ground gas ingress into new constructions. The spearhead of these changes was in the UK, with the updated version of the British Standard Code of Practice for the design of protective measures for methane and carbon dioxide ground gases for new buildings.
As a result of the introduction of the British Standard Code of Practice, Geoshield Ltd provide specialist testifying and verification for all new buildings, ensuring the code of practice which govern the installation of membrane systems is maintained and adhered to the highest standard.
Geoshield operate throughout the UK from Leeds based HQ, with services extending across Europe via our EU office in Dublin and Globally from our base in Manila, Philippines.
THE ROLE
The role of an Testing Officer is to work across a plethora of construction sites throughout the UK on a daily basis to ensure the safety and security. This is a new role as a part of a new division, so there is the scope to bring more people to the team and opportunity to have a direct input on the teams development and progress.
The primary focus is to work on construction sites, liaising with project managers, contractors and ground-workers, to conduct verification analysis reports. These reports then form the basis of a sites’ certification, in order to pass building control and be a legally secure and compliant building.
Working remotely from a home base, you will visit different construction sites, both commercial and residential, to ensure each site adheres to legislation and collate compliance reports.
After training, successful candidates will possess the ability to:
· Converse with all levels of construction site staff including management.
· Implement training schemes
· Introduce quality assurance procedures
· Perform independent third-party inspections, including photographing sites (on iPad) and upload to the CRIM
· Be able to show an understanding at a technical level of all the different testing disciplines, holiday testing, earth leakage detection testing, pressurised lap testing, and moisture testing.
· Interpret data and produce reports about a site’s compliance with legislation, with a view to achieving successful certification.
