Responsibilities

ROLE

Due to significant growth in the curriculum area, Hugh Baird College have an exciting opportunity for Construction Trades Technicians to join our dedicated Professional Construction & Trades department.
You will provide technical support to staff and students, supervise and demonstrate processes and equipment use, and issue and maintain equipment and resources within our Carpentry & Joinery, Brickwork or Painting & Decorating departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organising and setting up student work areas and college facilities as required, in accordance with curriculum requirements and Health & Safety standards.
  • Providing support to academic staff and students by preparing materials, demonstrating equipment/procedures, and supervising practical workshops.
  • Maintaining stock levels, equipment, tools, and materials, and ensuring cleanliness, disposal of waste materials, and basic repairs.
  • Managing and dispensing resources effectively
  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as recording stock and equipment usage.
  • Liaising with academic staff and management to advise on the purchase of equipment, materials, and resources.
  • Participating in promotional activities such as Open Evenings and Taster Days.
  • Working flexibly to meet the demands of the curriculum and training environment.
