Scope of Work Humanitarian Communication Coordinator Aceh Based Background Floods and landslides triggered by Cyclone Senyar have devastated Aceh and Sumatra, affecting more than 3 million people, including large numbers of children. Over 759 people have been killed, around 650 are still missing, and northern Sumatra has suffered the most severe damage. Tens of thousands of children are now out of school, many having lost their homes and daily routines overnight, leaving them highly vulnerable to protection risks, health threats, and long-term psychosocial impacts. Save the Children Indonesia has deployed emergency teams to some of the hardest-hit and hardest-to-reach areas, including Langkat District, Aceh Tamiang, and Tapanuli Tengah. Field teams continue to report isolated villages, submerged communities, damaged infrastructure, and access challenges caused by ongoing landslides and rising water levels. As part of this response, effective humanitarian communication is essential to ensure accountability to affected populations, meet donor visibility requirements, support media engagement and strengthen internal and global coordination. To support these needs, Save the Children Indonesia requires a Humanitarian Communication Coordinator to manage field-level content production, documentation and coordination with Jakarta-based backstop team and external stakeholders. Objectives The objective of this assignement is to ensure the availability of high-quality, accurate, and timely humanitarian content from the field that supports communication, donor reporting, branding, fundraising and media engagment in emergency and recovery phase. Scope of Work Provision of Photo and Video Content Produce and provide high-quality photo and video content to support communication needs of the Jakarta-based backstop team. Ensure timely delivery of raw and edited assets with complete captions and basic metadata. Case Study Development Develop compelling case studies, including conducting interviews with children, caregivers, and families affected by the emergency. Ensure all interviews and content collection comply with child safeguarding, consent, and ethical storytelling standards. Branding and Field Visibility Ensure Save the Children’s branding and visibility are properly implemented at field locations in line with agreed plans and guidelines. Coordinate documentation needs to support donor reporting and visibility requirements. Support for VVIP, Donor, and Influencer Visits Accompany and support VVIP, donor, and public figure visits to emergency response sites for photo and video documentation. Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure accurate messaging and appropriate representation of the response. Media and Spokesperson Support Support the preparation of field-based spokespersons for media interviews, including briefing on key messages and talking points. Assist in coordinating logistics and content needs during media engagements. Media Visit Coordination Support the preparation and facilitation of media visits based on incoming requests. Coordinate with media, program, and security teams to ensure safe, accurate, and well-managed media access to field locations. Deliverables Regular provision of quality-checked photo and video content to the backstop team in daily basis At least 2 Publication-ready case studies and interview materials in a week Documentation of branding and donor visibility in the field Visual documentation and content from VVIP, Donor and media visits Support materials for spokesperson preparation and media visit Duty Station Aceh Based, possible to travel to Tapanuli Tengah / Sibolga may be applied depending on the team function and needs.
Responsibilities
The coordinator will manage field-level content production, documentation, and coordination to ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely humanitarian content supports communication, donor reporting, and media engagement.
