Join our dynamic Nature team as a Consultant Ecologist in our growing Exeter (though other locations may be considered), as well as taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. Presently, we are working on a wide range of projects, including: Major infrastructure projects, especially in the renewable energy sectors. A range of other projects which are helping to create a better world, including river restoration/flood management schemes, active travel projects, and urban regeneration. In this role, depending on your interests and skillset, you will have opportunities to support on a variety of areas such as: using innovative survey techniques for species and habitats surveys, data capture and reporting; work winning; management of projects, Habitats Regulations Assessments; and Biodiversity Net Gain mentoring and coaching of the team. Here’s what you’ll do: Organising and carrying out desk studies and field based habitat, botanical, protected and non-native invasive species surveys; Undertaking the analysis, evaluation, interpretation and presentation of ecological data, including supporting production of Ecological Impact Assessments and design of mitigation strategies; Safe delivery of protected species and habitat surveys; analysis and evaluation of results, impact assessments, and the design and implementation of successful mitigation strategies; Performing the role of an Ecological Clerk of Works on construction projects; If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Qualifications Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here's what we're looking for: Experience of working in an ecology-related job role in the public and / or private sector, and designing, coordinating/ leading field surveys Developing knowledge of UK and EC wildlife legislation and policy, particularly relevant to Wales, and the Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) process; Experience in botanical identification, undertaking Phase 1 Habitat / NVC surveys and/or protected species surveys, preferably bats or dormouse; Adaptable and flexible approach to work to meet peaks in demands (ecology roles typically involve occasional longer/and or unsociable hours and a degree of working away from home for days/ weeks at a time); and Strong report writing skills, with demonstrable experience in producing a range of reports and providing ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
