This is an opportunity for a substantive appointment as a consultant in Endoscopy, either with a background in Medicine or General Surgery. This is a new replacement post. The service seeks a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic colleague, committed to the highest standards of practice, practising evidence based medicine and ensuring highest quality of care.
You will join the Endoscopy team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which currently consists of Consultant General Surgeons, Consultants Gastroenterologists, Associate Specialists, SAS doctors and Specialist Nurses. All teams carry out independent diagnostic and or therapeutic endoscopy, and several contribute to the out of hours GI bleed rota, specialist therapeutic procedures such as dilatation, haemostasis, oesophageal stent, ERCP, feeding tube placements and advanced polypectomy and the Bowel cancer Screening programme.
You will work within the Medical Division within Endoscopy and will be accountable to the Divisional Director, and the Executive Medical Director of the Trust.
Work closely with the Lead Endoscopy Nurse and Lead UGI & Colorectal Specialist Practitioner in the development of new services/initiatives.
Act as a role model, employ professional behaviour that encourages and coaches others to their current competencies, whilst seeking opportunities to enhance their roles.
Ensure processes are in place to facilitate effective communication being established with all disciplines, patients and relatives, that meets individual needs.
Provide highly skilled endoscopy ensuring interventions are undertaken in line with best practice guidance.
Ensuring your own and others clinical practice is patient centred and evidence based in accordance with the GMC Code of Practice & other professional codes and standards.
Monitoring and maintaining high standards of documentation and record keeping in line with the GMC Standard for Record Keeping, having systems and processes in place for daily checking and challenging any inaccuracies or omissions.
At all times adhering to and ensuring adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
