General Paediatric duties include 8 ward weeks/year with double Consultant of The Week cover for the Paediatric Wards. There is double Consultant of The Week cover for the Paediatric Wards on week days. . The Paediatric team have recently adopted a working pattern to provide resident evening cover of the wards until 22:00 throughout the week Monday to Friday and second consultant ward round support at the weekend 08:45-1400.
Duties will also include participation in the on call rota (all existing full time consultant posts have 2.13 PA/week for on-call duties which includes an allocation for weekend ward rounds) and a contribution to delivering the safeguarding service for non-sexual abuse assessments. (There are separate arrangements for assessing safeguarding sexual abuse which are not part of this post)
