Role OverviewA prestigious healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Consultant General Surgeon to join its multidisciplinary surgical team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive surgical expertise, deliver exceptional patient care, and collaborate seamlessly within a culturally diverse environment. Arabic fluency is essential for patient communication and cultural alignment. Key ResponsibilitiesPerform a wide range of general surgical procedures (elective and emergency)Evaluate patients, diagnose surgical conditions, and develop treatment plansLead preoperative and postoperative care in collaboration with nursing and allied health teamsContribute to surgical audits, quality improvement programs, and clinical governanceProvide mentorship to junior surgeons and actively participate in CME initiativesMaintain detailed and accurate medical records in compliance with DOH standardsQualifications & RequirementsMBBS or equivalent medical degree with completed specialty training in General SurgeryRecognized board certification (e.g., UK CCT, American Board, Arab Board, or equivalent)Minimum 5 years of post-specialty experience, including consultant-level responsibilityFluency in Arabic and EnglishEligible for DOH (Department of Health—Abu Dhabi) Consultant licensePreferred AttributesExceptional surgical judgment and patient-centered approachAbility to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary settingStrong communication, leadership, and organizational skillsProven experience in women’s health surgical needs is advantageous

Responsibilities

The Consultant General Surgeon will perform a wide range of general surgical procedures and evaluate patients to develop treatment plans. They will also lead preoperative and postoperative care and contribute to quality improvement programs.
