Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and board-certified Consultant Hematologist with a dedicated focus in Transfusion Medicine to join a prestigious tertiary-care center in Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnostic and therapeutic services in hematological disorders and oversee safe, efficient transfusion practices in alignment with national and international standards. Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and manage patients with benign and malignant hematological conditions (e.g., anemia, leukemias, lymphomas, coagulopathies)Supervise and optimize blood bank operations and transfusion protocols, including compatibility testing and inventory managementLead apheresis, plasma exchange, and cellular therapy services (if applicable)Guide clinical staff on transfusion guidelines and support management of transfusion reactionsCollaborate closely with laboratory medicine, oncology, and bone marrow transplant teamsParticipate in hematopathology consultations and interface with external reference laboratoriesContribute to CME activities, mentorship programs, and quality assurance initiatives within the hospitalMaintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with SCFHS and MOH regulatory frameworks Qualifications & RequirementsMedical degree (MBBS or equivalent), with completed residency in Internal Medicine or PathologyFellowship or subspecialty certification in Hematology and/or Transfusion MedicineBoard-certified (e.g., UK CCT, American Board, Canadian FRCP, Arab Board, or equivalent)Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience, including recent consultant-level practiceEligible for Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) Consultant classificationProficient in English (Arabic is a plus) Preferred AttributesExperience with stem cell transplantation, immunohematology, or hemovigilance systemsStrong leadership in blood bank operations or transfusion committee experienceCommitment to safe transfusion practices and transfusion medicine educationProven excellence in multidisciplinary collaboration and diagnostic accuracy
