Description:
Applications are invited for the post of substantive Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine (GIM) at the Whittington Health NHS Trust.
You will join a multidisciplinary specialist team which works across the acute site and the community.
You will have a broad training in Diabetes & Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine and you will be expected to participate in all these three specialties.
You will be capable of handling a full range of medical problems from acute presentation through to complex discharge planning. You will have an interest in working across traditional boundaries of community and secondary care.
The appointee must be an effective team player and must be flexible in approach, including with new ways of working. There will also be opportunities to take on clinical leadership and management roles.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register for both Endocrinology & Diabetes and General Internal Medicine holding a Certificate of Completion of Training or be within 6 months of award of CCT by the date of interview.

Responsibilities:
The postholder will provide high quality direct clinical care for patients in Diabetes & Endocrinology and in GIM.
For Diabetes & Endocrinology, the postholder will contribute to patient care in outpatient clinics and for inpatient care.
T he postholder will contribute to the management of patients with Type 1 diabetes, including those on insulin pumps.
The postholder will join the team providing specialist care for adolescent patients with diabetes moving from the Paediatric service, in the joint transition clinic.
The postholder will provide a diabetes clinic for young adults.
The postholder will provide doctor input to the Whittington DAFNE programme and will work with the Whittington DAFNE educators (DSNs and Dietitian) to continue embedding provision of DAFNE locally.
The postholder will provide consultant-led care for inpatients and will join the consultant on call rota for medicine
