Description:

Are you a Consultant looking for a challenging and rewarding career in Emergency Medicine? Would you like to be part of an organisation that cares about staff experience as much as patient experience? We are ranked one of the best Trusts in the country for staff experience. We care about helping our staff to achieve a good work life balance and so we welcome conversations about what this means for you so that we can design the role based on both your needs and those of the Emergency Department. This is one of the reasons why the Trust was shortlisted for the HSJ and Nursing Times ‘Top 100 best places to work’.
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust lies in the heart of Lancashire surrounded by a number of busy towns and communities. Our principal site at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital is approximately 40 minutes’ drive to Manchester and an hour to Liverpool, and within easy reach of the beautiful countryside of the Ribble Valley and the Forest of Bowland
A career in Emergency Medicine at our Trust offers you the chance to be part of a progressive team, providing emergency care to over 150,000 patients every year. The Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centre at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital is the busiest in the North West of England and the focus of emergency care in the Trust, supporting the Urgent Care Centre on our Burnley General Teaching Hospital site. Both units have benefitted from recent refurbishment and investment.
Our Emergency Department hosts higher Specialty Trainees and also trains Medical Undergraduate Students. We have recently implemented phase one of a new Acute Medical Model which will deliver integrated and collaborative working across Acute and Emergency Medicine. There has been significant investment in Same Day Emergency Care, with a medical ambulatory care unit, a surgical ambulatory unit and an Older Persons’ Rapid Assessment Unit opening since October 2018.
We are now looking for enthusiastic and motivated Consultants to join our team.
