Consultant in HIV and Integrated Sexual Health
Permanent , 10 PAS + on-Calls
Based at the Mortimer Market Centre
Following the retirement of the current post holder this unique opportunity has arisen to join a friendly, committed and highly motivated team of clinicians providing high quality HIV and Integrated Sexual Health Care at CNWL NHS Trust.
Based at the Mortimer Market Centre in Camden the post-holder will work closely with the consultant body and other members of the multidisciplinary HIV team to deliver high-quality and innovative HIV care. The NHS service works closely with the UCL research team; the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the promotion and recruitment to clinical trials.
The job includes an on-call commitment for in-patient advice of up to 1 in 5 and the post-holder will be granted an honorary contract with UCLH and access to the UCLH electronic health records.

Mortimer Market Centre
This post is based primarily in the Mortimer Market Centre in central London which has one of the largest HIV cohorts in the UK, with over 4,800 people attending for care. Those requiring in-patient care are admitted to the adjacent University College London Hospital (UCLH) site under the care of the Infectious Diseases Team with liaison support from CNWL staff. Specialist clinics include the Treatment Advice Clinic (TAC) which provides multidisciplinary support for people with complex needs.
Mortimer Market Centre is also one of the largest Sexual Health services in the country with more than 40,000 attendances per year. Most people attending the service self-refer, whilst others are referred by primary care, The UCLH Emergency Department and other medical specialties.

Responsibilities
  • The post holder will undertake fixed clinical sessions as described in the job plan although a precise timetable, including sexual health or inpatient liaison, will be open to negotiation with the Clinical Director & HIV leads.

The post holder will participate in the full range of consultant duties within the Mortimer Market Centre +/- UCLH with additional activities as required at Archway Clinic and Surrey site.

  • The appointee will be expected to collaborate closely with their consultant colleagues in the expansion and further development of the HIV service at MMC.
  • The consultant will ensure the implementation of agreed standards in clinical care in the HIV and GUM services in line with the Trust Clinical Governance policy. All consultants within the Care group including the post holder will work closely with the Clinical Governance Developer to ensure a high quality safe service is delivered at all times.
  • The post holder will participate in seminars, departmental meetings within the Mortimer Market Centre and UCLH as part of internal continuing medical education.
