Applications are invited to apply for the above post for the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Oxford University Hospitals.
The post-holders will have responsibility for general plastic surgery services and will have a specialist interest in trauma surgery and trauma related reconstruction of both lower and upper limbs.
This is an opportunity to join the dynamic and enthusiastic team of limb reconstructive surgeons to gain experience in a high performing department for trauma reconstruction. There is an excellent collaborative working relationship between the plastic and orthopaedic parts of the team and good support and mentoring is provided for new consultants when they join the department. The department uses the BSSH hand trauma triage algorithms through an integrated online referral service thereby reducing the patient footfall to clinic and allowing timely consultant review of decisions made by junior staff. Plastics Trauma consultants lead the service for both upper and lower limb trauma. In addition, this post has allocated time at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre establishing a formal Orthoplastics service for Prosthetic Joint Infection.
The post-holders’ duties will be primarily at The John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals in Oxford, but it is a condition of the appointment that the post-holder will be willing to work in any of the Trust’s locations and its partner hospitals. Flexible working is essential, and the job plans are annualised to reflect this.
