Job description
The Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland - Scotland’s National Centre for mountain biking innovation and excellence, comprises of individuals who are passionate about cycling, as well as helping Scottish businesses in capitalising in one of the country’s fastest growing sports.
At Edinburgh Napier University we engage across the breadth of cycling topics, for example working with partners to try to address this supply chain issue with novel solutions, whilst also supporting programmes that are looking at the therapeutic potential benefits of mountain biking to mental health and well-being.
The team are currently recruiting for the role of Consultant for a fixed-term 24-month contract, in order to develop and promote the Centre’s and University’s expertise in knowledge exchange activities within the cycling sector.

Responsibilities

For you, as someone with a long-standing (or seated) interest in Mountain Biking (and cycling more generally) and a relevant degree/work experience, there will be the opportunity to liaise with a number of internal and external stakeholders, through collaborative research and contribution to consultancy activities.
While conducting individual and collaborative research and commercial projects within the area of cycling, you will be continually updating your knowledge and understanding in the field of cycling innovation.
This, along with your track record of delivering successful cycling related research projects, will put you in an ideal position to share best practice and identify opportunities for both staff and students to engage with cycling research and consultancy, in turn helping to meet the targets of the MTBCOS.
This 24-month post will allow you to use new research techniques and methods to assist in innovation within cycling industry. Furthermore, you will be given the freedom to use your initiative and creativity to identify areas for consultancy and develop new marketing methods for MTBCOS.
We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who can contribute to the human factors/performance area and or the sports engineering areas of MTBCOS work. Part-time hours can be considered for the right candidate.
