Position: Consultant – Obstetrics & Gynaecology

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate O&G Consultant to join a team at a well-established regional health service in Western Australia.
This is a great opportunity to step into a senior role within a thriving regional hospital that plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive women’s health services across a broad catchment area.
Located in one of Western Australia’s most historically significant and vibrant regional centres, this 200+ bed public hospital is a key healthcare provider for the the region. The facility is classified as a Level 1 hospital, offering a full spectrum of medical and surgical services, and is undergoing continued development to enhance specialist care access in remote WA.
The Obstetrics & Gynaecology department provides a wide range of services including antenatal care, intrapartum care, gynaecological surgery, and outreach clinics.
With approximately 500 births annually, the unit maintains a strong focus on collaborative, patient-centred care.
The department is also accredited by RANZCOG for training, contributing to the next generation of O&G professionals. Supported by skilled midwives, junior doctors, and visiting specialists, you’ll be joining a collegial team committed to continuous improvement and regional excellence.
This facility has been recognised for its innovation in rural health delivery, winning regional health excellence awards in recent years for quality improvement initiatives and workforce development.

REQUIREMENTS::

  • Fellowship of RANZCOG or eligible for specialist registration with AHPRA.
  • Proven clinical competence across the breadth of O&G practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to regional and remote healthcare delivery.
  • Previous experience in a teaching or supervisory role is advantageous.
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, consultant-led O&G services to inpatients and outpatients.
  • Participate in the on-call roster and provide emergency obstetric and gynaecological care.
  • Supervise and support junior medical staff and registrars.
  • Engage in teaching, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with metropolitan tertiary centres as needed for patient transfers and complex cases.
