Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist with experience working with people with Mental Health conditions? If so, then join the team Thornford Park in Thatcham and experience what delivering great healthcare should feel like.
This part-time Consultant Psychiatrist position will see you join the established multidisciplinary team at Thornford Park. You will have overall clinical responsibility for the 24-hour management of in-patients in conjunction with other professions, delegating responsibility and accountability to the Associate Specialists and other medical staff whilst providing professional and personal support to them
In this role, jointly, within the Medical Directorate, develop and review Directorate policies and procedures to meet requirements of statutory bodies. You will work constructively with other Multi-disciplinary Teams to ensure good patient care and throughout. You will also contribute to the training, education and development of staff of all disciplines, in particular medical staff.
This is a part-time role, working 18.75 hours a week.

Responsibilities:

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • To be a member of the Medical Directorate advising on psychiatric and medical issues within the unit.
  • As a member of the Medical Directorate, to operationally manage within agreed standards, targets, timetables and constraints, in accordance with operational and strategic objectives in the Medical Service Level Agreement
  • Responsible for the administration of the Mental Health Act, Clinical Policy, Clinical Standards and associated administrative tasks in respect of patients
  • Exercise professional leadership and institute, manage and evaluate through audit a medical service, ensuring that clinical policy, practice and its application is research based and of a good standard
  • Be jointly responsible with the General Practitioner for the provision of medical services appropriate to patients in this service.
  • Ensure high quality and appropriate information and paperwork is received by our customers
  • Ensure professional policy and practice and their application is of a good standard across the hospital and is consistent

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Medically qualified
  • MRC Psych or equivalent
  • CCT in Psychiatry
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Effective analytical, interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Innovative and imaginative with the ability to initiate corporate decisions
  • The ability to respond quickly and flexibly to changing priorities
  • Leadership ability
  • The ability to affect change professionally and organisationallyEssential understanding of current developments in psychiatry and other aspects of mental health
