The Consultant will play a pivotal role in ensuring proactive, recovery-focused, individualised treatment plans are in place and being followed for each patient. Our intention is to have a short length of stay to manage only the acute phase of illness and support care in the least restrictive manner.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
NHFT promotes a culture of learning to improve the care and safety of our patients and staff, which focuses on people who enable our Trust to be ‘outstanding’ by supporting opportunity, innovation, development and growth.
Provide clinical leadership to the team and take clinical responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
Undertake clinical sessions at a prison and attend to all relevant matters there as a senior clinician and leader within that service.
Undertake Responsibility for ‘tracking’ and for gatekeeping assessments.
Take responsibility for carrying out clinical and administrative duties in relation to the care of his/her patients including completion of reports to First Tier Tribunal (Mental Health), Hospital Managers, Annual Statutory Reports to the MoJ and other statutory and non-statutory reports within the required timescales.
Leading the CPA meetings / Provide medical input into MAPPA as required
Work closely with forensic and non-forensic services, including the Ministry of Justice in the case of restricted patients, to facilitate the transfer or discharge of suitable patients from higher levels of security to the forensic and other community services in collaboration with other professionals
