Role overview

The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary mental health environment supported by psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals. The role will involve the assessment, diagnosis, and comprehensive management of patients presenting with a broad range of psychiatric and behavioural health conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including clinical history, mental status examination, and risk assessment.
• Diagnose and manage a broad range of psychiatric conditions across outpatient and inpatient settings, according to clinical scope.
• Develop individualised treatment plans incorporating pharmacological and appropriate psychological or behavioural interventions.
• Monitor treatment response, medication effectiveness, and potential adverse effects, adjusting treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
• Manage patients with acute psychiatric presentations and provide appropriate risk assessment and intervention.
• Collaborate with psychologists, therapists, social workers, primary care physicians, and other specialists to ensure integrated patient care.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, recovery, and relapse prevention.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with patient confidentiality, safety, and clinical governance standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and mental health service development.

Requirements

• American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
• UK CCT / MRCPsych with recognised specialist training in psychiatry
• European Board of Psychiatry or equivalent recognised qualification
• Royal College Certification (Canada)
• Australian FRANZCP
• Arab Board
• MD / DNB / FCPS or equivalent recognised specialist qualification in psychiatry
