Responsibilities

Do you want to work for a company whose purpose is to improve society by considering social outcomes, and to transform businesses, communities, and opportunities for its employees?
We’re seeking a Consultant to join our dynamic and expanding Industrialised Design and Construction (IDC) team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), who is passionate about driving innovation and digital transformation in the built environment. Whether you’re recently chartered or actively working towards professional accreditation with a recognised body (e.g., ICE, IStructE, IMechE, IET, CIAT, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, RIBA), this role offers the chance to shape the future of construction delivery across major infrastructure programmes.
We are leaders in the adoption and implementation of IDC, helping our clients achieve their ambitions of improved productivity and greater cost efficiency and certainty across the Built Environment. Our team is actively working across multiple sectors including Buildings (Healthcare, Education and Cities), Water & Environment and Nuclear.
You will support the delivery of strategic and technical advisory services across a range of sectors including buildings, water, transport, and energy on our existing and future commissions, as Industrialisation and MMC advisors to some of the biggest infrastructure owners and programmes in the UK and overseas. You’ll work with clients, design teams, manufacturers, and contractors to embed DfMA, MMC, and platform-based approaches into projects and programmes.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Support the development and implementation of IDC strategies across client portfolios and programmes, contributing to measurable improvements in delivery efficiency and consistency
  • Apply DfMA and MMC principles to optimise design, delivery, and operational outcomes—demonstrating value through improved constructability, reduced waste, or enhanced programme certainty
  • Contribute to the creation and use of standardised tools, methods, and delivery models, helping to embed repeatable, scalable solutions across projects
  • Assist in the development of IDC metrics and performance indicators, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across the value chain
  • Support the creation of case studies, lessons learned, and a library of proven IDC approaches, ensuring knowledge is captured, shared, and applied effectively
  • Engage in capacity building activities, including mentoring other staff and contributing to internal knowledge sharing; helping to grow the next generation of IDC practitioners
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure IDC principles are integrated from concept to completion, fostering a culture of cross-functional innovation
  • Contribute to the development of digital tools and data models that support industrialised delivery, enhancing transparency, traceability, and automation
  • Participate in client workshops, stakeholder engagement, and delivery assurance activities, building trusted relationships and reinforcing Mott MacDonald’s reputation for excellence in IDC
