POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Fabric Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize data pipelines and analytical solutions within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. This role is pivotal in enabling scalable, secure, and AI-ready data infrastructure that supports business intelligence, machine learning, and operational reporting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design and implement data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, Fabric Notebooks, and dbt (data build tools) Develop and manage Fabric Warehouses and Lakehouses, ensuring schema compatibility, performance, and compliance Integrate data across cloud and on-prem sources, including SQL Server, Azure Blob, REST APIs, and third-party systems Configure linked services and authentication using service principals, managed identities, and secure credential stores (e.g., Azure Key Vault) Enable AI-readiness by preparing semantic models, marking artifacts as “Ready for AI,” and supporting Copilot integration Optimize data storage and compute using Fabric capacities, partitioning strategies, and workload management Implement governance and security controls, including Purview integration, sensitivity labels, and RBAC Collaborate with data scientists, BI developers, and compliance teams to deliver reproducible, scalable solutions Monitor and troubleshoot pipelines, warehouse performance, and workspace configurations using Fabric Admin Portal and telemetry tools KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field or experience deemed relevant Experience: 3+ years of experience in cloud data engineering, preferably in Azure Healthcare experience not required but a solid nice to have Certifications: Microsoft certifications (e.g., DP-203, Fabric Data Analyst Associate) are a plus Skills and Abilities: Strong proficiency in T-SQL, Python, and Spark Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and dbt (Data build tools) Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT, and semantic layer design Familiarity with Copilot, AI model integration, and vector search Experience with Azure Key Vault, Entra ID, and service principal authentication Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., Purview, GDPR, HIPAA) Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly Bonus Skills Experience with Microsoft Fabric REST APIs Familiarity with LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or ML.NET Knowledge of CMS compliance standards and healthcare data workflows PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
