Job Description Summary Basic Purpose This position is for an expert Consultant in Elevators, Escalators, and other forms of Conveyance Transportation to provide leadership in their designated region as well as manage the Consultants in that region. The Director of Consulting should provide insightful solutions to meet our clients’ needs. They are responsible for developing relationships with potential clients, determining the consulting tasks that will best meet the needs of clients, developing work scopes for client buildings and conveyance equipment, and managing project cycles from request for proposal to inspection. A strong candidate should maintain expert level industry knowledge through research and writing and work collaboratively with other Consultants and support services to ensure the best experience for our clients. Scope The Director of Consulting plays a dual role: Individual Consulting Work Primary Responsibilities: 80% Daily Functions Actively manages their own portfolio of consulting projects, delivering expert-level service and contributing directly to revenue. Team Leadership & Management- Primary Responsibilities: 20% Daily Functions Leads a definedregional territory of consultants, owning team performance, financial results, strategy, and talent development. This role is responsible for aligning the consulting function with broader business objectives while ensuring consistent value delivery to clients. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a strong consulting background, operational discipline, strategic acumen, and a passion for developing people. This individual will serve as a key liaison between consulting, sales, operations, and executive leadership Individual Consulting Work Maintain an active portfolio of consulting projects across assigned verticals or geographies. Develop and deliver high-quality client service, including audits, assessments, design reviews, modernization planning, code consulting, proposals etc… Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and client advisor while meeting personal revenue targets. Surveying existing equipment or reviewing data collected by others onsite. Reviewing construction documents and drawings. Developing Specifications for Maintenance, Modernization or New Equipment. Reviewing bids from contractors and building project cashflow documentation. Help expand client relationships and identify land & expand opportunities. Team Leadership & Management Overview: Lead a regional team of consultants with day-to-day coaching, guidance, and performance oversight. Conduct semi-weekly 1:1 meetings, performance evaluations, and professional development planning. Manage the full talent lifecycle: hiring, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding as needed. Maintain accountability for resource planning and project assignments. Approve time off requests, expenses, and ensure team alignment with company standards and expectations. Financial Management & Reporting Own Regional consulting team P&L, including revenue forecasting, expense management, and margin analysis. Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports to executive leadership. Identify opportunities to increase team productivity and profitability. Strategic Planning & Execution Develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with company goals and market needs. Standardize consulting methodologies, templates, and deliverables across the organization. Collaborate with sales leadership and operations teams to support go-to-market efforts and project execution. Talent Development & Training Design and deliver training programs for both new hires and existing consultants. Train team with standardization of templates for surveying, reports and specifications (all construction documents). Create career development paths and succession plans within the team. Lead internal workshops, best-practice sharing, and knowledge documentation. Forecasting & Capacity Planning Forecast capacity workload and consulting demand based on sales pipeline and existing commitments. Manage regional team supporting backlog and pipeline management of workflow in progress. Align team structure and staffing to meet business needs while balancing workload. Anticipate talent gaps and plan for recruitment and team growth. Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, and filing cabinets. Travel Travel is required. This may include visits to regional offices, company-required functions, and visiting potential and current customers as necessary. Qualifications A strong understanding of project management requirements in the elevator industry Formal education, either a college degree or technical school certificate, is expected (exceptions made for specific industry experience). Driven to provide an outstanding customer experience. Ability to build a network of current and potential clients. Strong technical writing and report development skills. Ability to manage multiple projects to completion. Ability and desire to stay abreast of latest industry developments. Experience managing and leading a team of Consultants and support staff. Relevant elevator Industry Experience. Prior customer service or experience working with clients. QEI or the willingness to obtain it in 12 to 14 months. Competencies Ability to learn.
