Description
B.S. in Mechanical, Plastics, or Manufacturing Engineering with 3+ years of experience (preferably within biotechnology or life science engineering or manufacturing), or a M.S. with 0+ years of experience. Fundamental understanding of 3D mechanical design, experience using CAD with SolidWorks experience a plus Experience with injection molding, co-molding, or thermoforming, etc., including designing parts for plastic molding, iterating on mold parameters, and troubleshooting issues from molding. Familiarity with data compilation and analysis tools [e.g. Excel, JMP]; ability to assist in interpreting Gage R&R studies and process capability [Cpk] trends. Fundamental understanding of geometric tolerancing per ASME Y14.5, dimensional stack-ups, inspection procedures and metrology equipment. Ability to travel internationally as needed. Strong written and oral communication skills. Direct experience with injection molding of precision plastics. Strong foundation in statistics and design of experiments. Experience with Arena PLM and Oracle ERP systems; creating, managing, and reviewing engineering change orders, engineering drawings, purchase specifications, and receiving inspection reports. Programming and simulation skills (e.g., Matlab, Python, COMSOL, OpenCV, C++).

The Consumables NPI Engineer 2 will be responsible for designing parts for plastic molding and troubleshooting issues related to molding processes. The role requires collaboration in data analysis and interpretation of engineering studies.
