Description:

SUMMARY:

Within authorized authority, and in accordance with sound underwriting practices as set out in policy and procedure, examines, evaluates, and authorizes or recommends approval of borrower’s applications for credit or extension of lines of credit, consumer credit loans, or credit card accounts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following job functions. Other job functions may be assigned from time to time. The job functions contained herein are intended to be supplemented by Task Lists which describe various individual tasks associated with each job function.
Reviews and underwrites all consumer loan applications received, while adhering to the Loan Policy
Calculates monthly income through review of check stubs, verification of employment, tax returns, and other documents.
Contacts members to request for additional information or documents required to complete the processing of a consumer loan request; and notify members of credit decisions (in person, telephone, mail, when required).
Provides basic counseling to member on their credit, and the adverse factors that may affect it.
Provides branch support during on-site financing for promotional events off credit union premises.
File, input data, record information as required, making and answering telephone calls, photocopying, faxing, typing correspondence, and general office tasks.
Cross-sells members on the benefits of utilizing other credit union
services.
Performs other duties as might be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A high school or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required; plus two to three years related experience primarily derived from prior experience as a Loan Officer and/or Collection Officer; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities thereof.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as Loan Agreements and debt obligation documents such as judgments, liens, maintenance enforcement orders, and similar instructions and processes relating to debt obligations and recovery procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members, a one on one basis, or several persons of varying backgrounds.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to operate standard office equipment and tools such as postage machine, fax machine, telephones, photocopier, typewriter, and utilize appropriate versions of current computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
Complete familiarity with any FAIR CREDIT REPORTING Acts, and Federal, State, and Local regulation relating to debt collection and credit counselors.
