Description Job Scope: The Consumer Quality Control Specialist 1 supports post-funding review activities to ensure accuracy and compliance across Sunward’s consumer and indirect lending portfolios. This role assists in identifying errors and ensuring files meet internal and regulatory standards, contributing to quality assurance and member service excellence. Working under general supervision, the Specialist reviews documentation for completeness, flags potential discrepancies, and helps maintain accurate records. This is a developing-level role designed to build subject matter knowledge and quality control proficiency within a regulated lending environment. Essential Functions Perform entry-level post-funding reviews of consumer and indirect loan files following established checklists and guidelines. Verify the presence of required documentation, signatures, and disclosures in loan files. Accurately document exceptions in audit logs and escalate more complex findings to senior team members or supervisors. Support data entry and system updates to ensure loan records reflect current and complete information. Assist with trend tracking and quality metrics reporting under the guidance of a lead or senior specialist. Maintain organized electronic records of review activity in designated systems. Participate in team meetings, training, and process improvement discussions to develop functional knowledge. Contribute to the upkeep of internal job aids and documentation by flagging outdated content or suggesting edits. Support research and follow-up on service issues or data inconsistencies as assigned. Requirements Qualifications: Experience and Education Minimum 1 year of experience in consumer lending, document review, or a related financial services role preferred. Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience. CUCE or other compliance certification a plus but not required at this level. Knowledge Basic understanding of consumer lending and loan documentation processes. Familiarity with key compliance concepts and regulations (e.g., TILA, ECOA, FCRA) preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn banking and auditing systems. Skills/Abilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work output. Ability to follow detailed procedures and checklists. Good communication skills and willingness to ask questions. Eagerness to learn and build expertise in lending quality control. Dependable time management and ability to meet review deadlines. Team-oriented with a growth mindset. Physical Requirements/Work Environment Standard office environment with routine use of computers and typical office equipment. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Occasional travel to branch locations may be required.
