There’s no pledge more important than the one we make to look after our environment, and we’re committed to helping you do exactly that.    Join us as we strive for a sustainable future for our communities and the world we live in.    Become part of our global network of skilled engineers, scientists, auditors, planners and environmental specialists, all working together to leave this world better than we found it.   GHD is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Contaminated Land Scientist to join the team in New Zealand.   Preferred location: Christchurch, with Dunedin also considered for the right candidate.   The role:   * Working alongside experienced practitioners, this position offers exposure to a wide variety of contaminated land projects and will see you involved in: * Supporting the coordination and delivery of contaminated land investigation, assessment and remediation projects for both public and private sector clients. * Contributing across the project life cycle, from the proposal preparation stage, through undertaking site investigations, to assessment and reporting. * Overseeing and undertaking field investigations, including soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling, monitoring programs, site supervision and data collection. * Undertaking project management tasks, including document management, budget tracking and invoicing, and building and maintaining strong client, both internal and external, relationships.  * The preparation of a range of technical reports and management plans, with guidance from senior team members. * Collaborating closely the national environment team and the wider GHD business and engaging with clients and contractors as required.   About you:   * A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geography, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering (Relevant postgraduate qualifications are a plus)  * 4 to 7 years relevant experience, ideally in contaminated land assessment, and/or remediation within a consultancy or similar environment. * Professional registration would be an advantage but not essential.  * Strong working knowledge of the NES-CS, MFE Contaminated Land Management Guidelines, and relevant regional council requirements. * Demonstrated technical capability in fieldwork, data interpretation and reporting related to contaminated sites and in compliance with relevant guidelines. * Excellent technical writing skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly. * A proactive, solutions focused mindset and willingness to learn and grow within a team environment. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. * A genuine commitment to teamwork, quality outcomes and professional development.   Click ‘Apply’ to submit your CV or reach out to Zen Chua (zen.chua@ghd.com [zen.chua@ghd.com]) for more information.   Our Hybrid Work Model:   Be part of the dynamic culture!
