Description
Are you a student in our Making Waves college and career success program or an alum from one of our Making Waves programs? Are you interested in sharing your story to inspire others, to give back, or build your portfolio? The Content Creator and Storytelling Fellow role is a paid, spring internship or fellowship opportunity with a flexible schedule designed specifically for Wave-Makers in college or in their careers who want to share their unique college and career journey through writing, speaking, or multimedia content. No prior experience is needed – this is a micro or project-based opportunity for students and professionals interested in building their portfolio, sharing their story, or gaining exposure to storytelling, marketing, communications, social impact, or nonprofit work. The deadline to apply for this role is December 5, 2025 and this spring fellowship runs February 3, 2026- June 30, 2026. What you’ll do: The marketing and storytelling team at Making Waves is promoting equity by making college and career resources more accessible, building community by celebrating student stories, and driving impact by building brand awareness and engaging new supporters. As a Content Creator and Storytelling Fellow, you’ll create content that reaches the Making Waves community of students, alumni, donors, partners, and supporters. Whether you’re interested in writing, public speaking, social media, design, photography, or video creation, this internship is a flexible way to build your skills, share your story, make new connections, and make an impact in your community. With support from our team, we’ll work together to come up with 4-7 concrete projects over the spring internship duration: February 3 – June 30, 2026. This will include student-facing and peer-to-peer marketing content as well as donor-facing storytelling or fundraising communications. We will set the project deliverables, timelines, and reviews. Example projects might include: Editing or creating “Day in the life” videos, “take-overs,” or virtual campus or work tours Social media content creation for events, programs, or resources Photos or videos from study abroad or travel, internships or career experiences, or campus life Advice or tips from your college, career, or financial journey Visual or video content using existing college, career, and financial resources Blog posts or photo essays Speaking at student, donor, or corporate partnership events, panels, or meetings Personalized videos for donors or supporters Writing thank-you messages or updates to donors Creating designs for mailers, newsletter, websites, or social media What We Offer Pay: An hourly rate of $18-20/hour. In line with our commitment to equity, fairness, and transparency, we have adopted a no salary negotiation policy. We understand the historical inequities created by salary negotiations and believe in offering a starting salary that is fair and grounded in evidence collected during a clear, competency-aligned hiring process. Internship credit: This can be used for internship credit depending on your interest and academic program requirements. Who You Are and What You've Done null Requirements Wave-Maker in Making Waves’ college and career success program or alum from a Making Waves program Open to all majors Prior experience or samples are a plus but not required Willingness to ask questions, learn, reflect, follow through with deliverables, and creatively share your journey Ability to manage your time, meet deadlines, and communicate regularly about projects Willingness to learn about and follow brand and editorial guidelines and go through reviewing and editing processes
