QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience successfully producing videos and photography aimed at a youth demographic
  • Post-secondary degree in marketing or digital content creation is an asset
  • Proven competency to conduct effective on camera interviews
  • Demonstrated understanding of the various social channels/platforms and their specific content needs
  • Experience working with a creative firm/team in a similar environment an asset
  • Proven expertise in understanding and marketing to the target audience with relevant content
  • Proven results in producing short videos on short timelines
  • Proven experience in narrative building and story chasing
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly translate jargon and academic language into plain language for the target audience
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly identify the most important information and the heart of a story and how to make it compelling for the target audience
  • Demonstrated ability to shoot and edit compelling video with daily deadlines that would appeal to the target audience
  • High interest in the methods/strategies of brand-building and the role of content creators to develop an organization’s brand
  • Willingness to learn, explore, create and receive constructive feedback to adapt and successfully meet project objectives
  • Industry knowledge of digital content creation and production of short videos
  • Shooting and editing processes that allow for quick turnaround needs, while maintaining the needs for compelling storytelling
  • Proven ability to collaboratively work on projects and juggle various commitments to meet production deadlines
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere. Knowledge of After Effects and other Adobe software is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience or proficiency with Motion Graphics is an asset; willingness to learn/develop Motion Graphic skills will be required as part of the position’s professional development objectives
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft software, including: Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and OneDrive

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends to support events/projects that occur outside of regular business hours, as appropriate
    Compensation: OPSEU Unit I, Appendix A, Grade A3; $50,163.56 to $65,081.34 per annum
    Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, for a total of 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Create and produce visual content to effectively build narratives that build the OCAD U brand
  • Strategize new ideas to build visual narratives with an advanced understanding of the brand needs. This requires frequent auditing of the various channels to better understand best practices
  • Work directly with social media content developers and collaborate with the M&C Social Media Lead to create TikTok specific assets.
  • Capture OCAD U events in an independent capacity as appropriate
  • At the direction of the Director, Creative & Brand, review, understand and follow the outlined Creative Brief to effectively deliver on project objectives
  • Act as production crew support on shoots, including, but not limited to; coordination, location scouting, lighting setup, and general studio responsibilities to support the overall success of the shoot
  • Contribute to the post-production needs of projects, including, but not limited to editing, supers, motion graphics, file tagging, captioning, posting, file sharing and archiving
  • Capture events, special projects, and interview subjects for the purposes of building content and Communications news.
  • Confer with the Director, Brand & Creative, regarding strategic project issues that may arise
  • Work with M&C Graphic Design team to maintain brand consistency on all projects
  • Ensure consistent and accurate general archiving and digital asset management
  • Support the M&C office in other related tasks contributing to the successful operation of the unit
  • Work in tandem with senior staff , while also working independently as required
  • Collaborate with the Content Producer to determine the best strategies for shooting
  • Independently manage project timing on the shared tracking calendar with the rest of the M&C tea
