MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

• Maintain constant communication with various departments, colleges, and centers at UoS in order to stay up to date on any current and upcoming activities such as cultural or academic events, scientific conferences, research activities, etc. ensuring that they receive the proper coverage.
• Prepare and conduct interviews with students, faculty members, and other UoS community members to report on their special achievements and projects in the university’s in-house Academy Magazine or foreign publications.
• Create and publish engaging news articles, features, blogs, and reports for various platforms to help highlight and promote the university’s achievements, activities, and contributions in various fields.
• Edit and proofread any written pieces/articles submitted for publication and verify information through interviews, observation, and research to ensure the accuracy of the used facts, sources, grammar, and brand consistency. As well as report any inaccuracies or concerns to the Team Leader to take corrective action.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance of the used digital channels/activities and provide feedback to the concerned stakeholders regarding the effectiveness of these channels and future improvement plans.
• Collaborate with other teams such as the Media Center to ensure that the content created always aligns with the university’s strategic goals and brand identity. 8. Assist faculty members in training students and providing them with technical and practical expertise in media writing and communication techniques.
• Maximize national and international customer engagement with the published content related to UoS, by optimizing content for search engines and social media platforms to increase visibility and reach.
• Collaborate with international news organizations and foreign journalists to strategically enhance the university’s recognition and establish strong channels of communication between UoS and foreign media.
  Develop creative ideas, suggest new innovative ways of delivering digital news content, and keep up-to-date with the latest digital media innovations and emerging trends.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
• Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
• Knowledge of digital journalism principles and techniques.
• Excellent proofreading skills.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, Media Studies, Digital Media, or a relevant Mass Media related discipline.
• 2-4 years of UAE experience in a similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
• A Portfolio of published articles/content/features/blogs must be included.Priority is to UAE Nationals.

To create and publish various types of digital content, including articles, blog posts, news, feature stories, and other multimedia formats covering the University of Sharjah’s achievements, activities, and scientific output.
