ROLE SUMMARY

Our Content Developers write the content for our clients’ important communication moments, from presentations to reports. That’s the straightforward description. But who are they really? They’re storytellers, they’re archeologists, they’re magicians and maestros. They can artfully translate what someone wants to say (even when the client isn’t quite sure themselves) into a compelling story that resonates with the audience.
The output might be a sales deck, a corporate overview, an internal presentation, a keynote, an investor deck, a white paper, an annual report, a training, or any other key communication moment where our clients need support. In every case, our Content Developers bring creative problem-solving and imaginative thinking that stays true to our clients’ strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Content Developer (Level II), you’ll lead client discovery meetings, generate creative concepts, determine the content’s structure and flow, write and revise the content, deliver your recommendations to clients (e.g., present the script with confidence and energy as if you were on the main stage), translate the written and spoken word into visuals, handoff your visual recommendations to Designers and Art Directors, and review files for quality assurance. Below you’ll find more details about the duties and responsibilities wrapped up in that process.

Written Communication:

  • Writes compelling content that embraces and champions the “Resonate” and “DataStory” communication principles.
  • Develops content that accurately reflects client’s intent, connects with their audience, and makes imaginative use of the medium.
  • Translates complex technical concepts into clear messages, while also crafting cinematic, high-impact moments for the keynote stage.
  • Manages multiple projects and produces client-ready work within tight project timelines and on (or under) budget.
  • Crafts content “for the page” differently from “spoken-word” content.
  • Revises and edits drafts and final deliverables with a strong attention to detail.

Verbal Communication:

  • Embraces and champions the ”Captivate” communication principles.
  • Leads meetings in a way that’s productive and delightful for the client and internal team members.
  • Presents recommendations to clients with passion and polish.
  • Clearly articulates ideas that are appropriate to the situation and setting.
  • Demonstrates active listening and ensures forward motion by building on participant contributions, clarifying ambiguities, and restating agreements.

Consulting:

  • Interfaces heavily with ‘C’ level clients and is able to quickly demonstrate value.
  • Projects executive presence that builds trust and confidence, ensuring you’re viewed as a strategic partner and subject matter expert.
  • Knows the client’s industry and technology well enough to support their business objectives while still bringing “Duarte magic.”
  • Identifies potential barriers to success and artfully brings stakeholders to consensus.
  • Manages confrontational situations and takes control in a professional manner.
  • Builds relationships and rapport that creates ongoing demand from our clients.

Research and Analysis:

  • Locates and summarizes the information in primary and secondary sources.
  • Gathers relevant insights about the client, their target audience, competitors, and story landscape.
  • Analyzes research on both qualitative and quantitative levels and converts data into meaningful insights and compelling content.
  • Parses raw data to create actionable frameworks for Designers.

Collaboration:

  • Directs Level I Content Developers and contractors on projects.
  • Builds relationships and rapport with client and internal teams in a way that’s both professional and engaging.
  • Actively participants in internal brainstorming sessions, sharing ideas and pushing back while maintaining a positive group dynamic.
  • Contributes to multiple project teams at once while bringing dedication and enthusiasm to each one.

Creativity:

  • Embraces and champions the “Slide:ology” principles and thinks visually about the best ways to communicate a message.
  • Generates and merges creative ideas with clients’ highly technical information and strategic needs.
  • Pushes beyond the “quick fix” or thinking there’s only one solution to a challenge.

Ambassadorship:

  • Represents Duarte, its capabilities, and its offerings accurately and with conviction.
  • Inspires the best from project teams throughout concept development, content visualization, and design critiques.
  • Has high standards for quality and ensures accuracy of own and others’ work.
  • Incorporates Duarte strategic goals in negotiating process.
  • Reports back to management on client dynamics and strategy acceptance and adjusts approach accordingly.
