Description

Note: This position is contingent on contract award. Offers will be extended upon successful contract execution.
We are hiring an experienced writers/editor to support the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (MRDC) Public Affairs Office. These roles are ideal for seasoned communications professionals who can work independently, engage with subject matter experts, and translate complex research into clear, mission-aligned content for both internal and public audiences.
You’ll create plain-language newsletters, press releases, speeches, and digital content to support MRDC’s scientific mission and visibility.
This position is contingent on contract award. Applicants must have an active Secret clearance and strong professional experience writing in science, medical, military, or government environments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active Secret security clearance
  • 5+ years of professional writing and editing experience
  • Proven ability to write plain-language content from interviews with scientific or technical experts
  • Experience drafting press releases, newsletters, scripts, social media, and long-form communications
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills in AP style
  • Familiarity with web writing and accessibility standards
  • Ability to meet short deadlines and manage multiple concurrent content pieces
  • Understanding of operational security (OPSEC) when handling public-facing content

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background supporting Army, DHA, or public health/military medical communications
  • Experience writing speeches or briefings for federal executives
  • Knowledge of military public affairs workflows and clearance review protocols
  • Comfort working in dynamic team environments alongside graphic, video, and protocol personnel
