The Growth Company (GC) is now looking for a Content Marketing Specialist to lead the creation and delivery of high-impact content that supports strategic marketing campaigns and raises the profile of the Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub (GM BGH).
Our Innovation and Digital, Creative and Technology (DCT) teams sit at the heart of Greater Manchester’s thriving Innovation ecosystem, helping businesses across the city region develop and implement exciting new products and services. Working with incredible partners in the public and private sector they help spark new ideas and transform businesses.

To support these ambitious teams, we’re looking someone with a strong sense of curiosity and creativity ready to help us challenge the idea of what innovation really means. The ideal candidate will be strong storyteller with the ability to turn complex ideas into understandable and engaging content.

  • If your application is shortlisted, you will be invited to a Face to Face interview which is scheduled for Wednesday the 27th of August. Please note this interview will include a task.
  • If you are selected you will then be invited to a final stage interview via Microsoft Teams. (Dates to be confirmed)

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in content marketing, journalism, or digital communications.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills across formats and platforms.
  • Proficiency in content management systems, social media tools, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience working with or within the DCT sector and innovation ecosystem.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with AI-generated content, immersive storytelling, and emerging media formats.
  • Understanding of SEO, UX, and accessibility standards.
  • Experience commissioning and managing external creative contributors.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver content strategies that highlight Greater Manchester’s innovation and DCT strengths.
  • Create compelling written, visual, and multimedia content across web, social, email, and PR channels.
  • Collaborate with innovation leads and DCT specialists to translate complex ideas into engaging narratives.
  • Manage content calendars and editorial planning aligned with campaign goals and partner priorities.
  • Produce case studies, thought leadership pieces, and sector reports that demonstrate impact.
  • Commission and brief external creatives including videographers, designers, and writers.
  • Optimise content for digital platforms, ensuring accessibility, SEO, and user experience best practices.
  • Support Innovation and DCT-focused events and campaigns with tailored content assets.
