REQUIREMENTS:

    Master’s Degree in job related area. Specialist degree in Curriculum & Instructions preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: school district policies pertaining to students, and policies and procedures regarding graduation requirements.
    SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; facilitating meetings; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. Good organization and cooperative planning skills; and strong verbal and written communication skills are imperative.
    ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Responsibilities
  • Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.
  • Leads in the development and maintenance of an effective and cohesive educational program designed to meet the needs of all children.
  • Guides the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instruction.
  • Assists in keeping the community informed about the curriculum and instructional programs of the district and garners and shares stakeholder feedback on matters of curriculum and instructional deliveries.
  • Analyzes the instructional program and adjusts curriculum to improve identified areas of student strengths and weaknesses and continue enhancement of student performance for the purpose of raising achievement and addressing the academic needs of all students.
  • Assists and provides support to administrators and academic coaches with interventions and support for teachers for the purpose of developing teacher efficacy and addressing teacher retention. Works with school leadership in the improvement of individual staff competencies in the areas of curriculum and instructional frameworks.
  • Frequently visits each school to observe classroom instruction and to encourage, guide, demonstrate, inform, and support teachers, coaches, and administrators in working toward district academic achievement goals.
  • Provides direct support to all schools in implementing standards-based instructional and assessment practices through consultation, modeling, coaching, and the maintenance of active professional learning communities
  • Supports academic progressions and transitions between grade levels and schools
  • Guides development, implementation, and evaluation of orientation and in-service training programs for professional personnel
  • Hones expertise through membership and participation in professional endeavors at the district and state levels and seeks continual professional development to maintain current and relevant instructional practices and curriculum resources
  • Models lessons as appropriate for school-level staff
  • Assists in the selection of instructional materials and equipment for the purpose of engaging students and personalizing instruction to meet a wide variety of learning styles and adaptive needs
  • Assists school-based administrators with teacher selection and recruitment and placement in schools for the purpose of maintaining adequate staff
  • Collaborates with internal and external personnel (e.g., other administrators, teachers, public agencies, and community members, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining selected services and programs
  • Collaborates with the other Content Specialists and Teacher Quality Specialists to plan, deliver, and evaluate teacher professional learning opportunities for the purpose of developing effective educators
  • Plans and facilitates training opportunities for district and school staff as identified by need (evaluation and observation) for the purpose of ensuring highly effective instructional staff are maintained throughout the district
  • Supports academic competitions and exhibitions as directed by the Executive Director of PK-12 Curriculum and Instruction for the purpose of enhancing student achievement
  • Provides assistance to schools by facilitating instructional implementation and curricular development pertaining to Multi-Tier System of Supports, addressing the academic needs of diverse learners, equitable practices for all students, and high-yield strategies consistent with the latest research from the exceptional student education, general education, and neuroscience communities for the purpose of improving student achievement
  • Responsible for communicating Department of Education (DOE) updates (state and national) in academic areas for the purpose of providing timely and accurate information
  • Assists in district reporting to meet state requirements in specific content area of focus
  • Responsible for identifying areas of student strengths and weaknesses for the purpose of recommending programmatic revisions based on teacher and student performance
  • Supervises, coordinates, analyzes, distributes, and monitors the district curriculum and the overall function of their respective subject area(s) for the purpose of enhancing student learning
  • Works closely with all district divisions and schools in creating and implementing district improvement goals and plans for the purpose of supporting student achievement (District Teaching and Learning Blueprint, assessments, Formative Instructional Practices (FIP), high-yield instructional strategies, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), teacher collaborative planning, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for solid, standards-based Tier I instruction and academic intervention, Advanced Coursework Frameworks, course requirements and progressions, etc.)
  • Collects and disaggregates student, class, school, and district formative and summative data pertaining to content mastery to inform and guide decisions regarding instructional implementation and curricular programming for the purposes of increasing student achievement and addressing instructional and learning gaps
  • Maintains good stewardship of budgetary matters and follows financial regulations for the procurement and distribution of materials, resources, and equipment purchased by the district in support of schools and students and evaluates departmental content budgets for return on investment
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Researches a variety of topics (e.g., courses, materials, training consultants, etc.) for the purpose of meeting staff training needs by developing/evaluating new programs and services.
