OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE/CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT SPECIALIST 2 POSITION OVERVIEW
Leads OPEX (Operational Excellence) activities of diverse scope and complexity to improve the efficiency of systems and processes at the site and/or with suppliers and customers. Stimulates management thinking about Continuous Improvement (CI) and new initiatives; seeks out and pilots new tools; and demonstrates the successful application of new methodologies. Educates team members, suppliers, and customers about OPEX philosophies and methods.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of continuous improvement principles and philosophies in business and/or manufacturing operations that include areas such as: productivity and quality measurements; lean manufacturing systems; flexible, world class manufacturing techniques; specific problem-solving tools and their application; familiarity with scheduling, material/planning and reporting systems. Proficient in training selection, delivery, and evaluation. Ability to lead and implement continuous improvement principles and techniques. Ability to apply mathematical and analytical skills and to quantify results. Knowledge of FAA standards and regulations, ATA standards, and other applicable federal and military regulations may be required. Knowledge of project management standards and techniques and ability to set project goals. Ability to work on a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis and evaluation of various outcomes require tradeoffs and negotiation. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret detailed technical manuals and policies and recommend changes to procedures. Ability to train and communicate effectively with team members, customers, suppliers, project teams, and management. Ability to respond to significant inquiries from team members, suppliers, and customers. Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
