OVERVIEW

Salisbury Greenhouse, a leading independent garden center based in Alberta, is looking for a contract developer to help us integrate ChatGPT with our Lightspeed POS system.
The goal is to create a smart, AI-powered assistant that can: • Access real-time inventory and product data • Generate retail insights and customer trends • Support both internal staff and customer-facing experiences.
This is a contract position with the potential for ongoing work as we expand AI use across our business. You’ll work directly with the Head of Strategy for the contract.

EXPERIENCE

• Strong experience with REST APIs, particularly Lightspeed Retail (Series X) or similar POS systems
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or Node.js
• Experience integrating with OpenAI APIs or other LLMs
• Familiar with tools like Zapier, Make.com, and Postman
• Knowledge of garden centers, retail, or e-commerce is an asset but not required
• Experience with automating the process of uploading complex purchase spreadsheets directly into Lightspeed retail via API is an asset ,but not required

• Use the Lightspeed Retail API to connect live inventory, sales, and customer data to a secure OpenAI or ChatGPT-based interface
• Set up middleware (e.g., Make.com, Zapier, or custom Python scripts)
• Create functional endpoints to support:
• Inventory lookups
• Purchase trend analysis
• Loyalty + customer history
• Collaborate with our strategy and marketing lead to ensure the tone of the assistant reflects our brand voice
• Ensure data security and POS system integrity at all times
