Cytokinetics is a late-stage, specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors as potential treatments for debilitating diseases in which cardiac muscle performance is compromised. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Facilities Engineer to ensure the functionality, safety, and efficiency of our building infrastructure. This role involves managing maintenance activities, construction projects, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, with a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to lead, support, and train team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong technical background in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), plumbing, electrical systems, and fire safety systems.
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) preferably AutomatedLogic WebCTRL.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation.
  • Completion of an applicable technical training program is strongly preferred.

PAY RANGE:

In the U.S., the hiring pay range for fully qualified candidates is $55 -$60 per hour. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect buildings’ assets and infrastructure to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
  • Create and implement preventive maintenance procedures for maintaining building infrastructure and equipment.
  • Monitor systems performance and functionality, making recommendations and/or adjustments for improvements or upgrades.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and internal teams for repair and maintenance.
  • Ensure all facilities meet compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Monitor consumption and manage efforts to reduce energy usage and cost.
  • Document procedures, incidents, maintenance activities, and keep an inventory of all building components and equipment.
  • Address emergency issues promptly and coordinate with team and staff to address issues.
  • Schedule, supervise and implement preventative maintenance with minimal disruption to building services.
  • Perform and/or delegate preventative maintenance tasks to qualified maintenance staff.
  • Order parts and equipment required for repair, maintenance, and installation of new equipment and facilities, and maintain inventory.
  • Demonstrate the proper use and care of tools and instruments.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in basic maintenance, safety, and troubleshooting procedures, while also offering training and supervision to expand the capabilities of the operations staff.
  • Instill an overall level of professionalism in manner and appearance.
  • Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Recommend and estimate facilities repairs and improvements for inclusion in the annual budget.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.
