Description
About Us We're NUS Enterprise, the entrepreneurial heart of the National University of Singapore (NUS). Our mission: turn frontier science into globally transformative products and companies by fostering entrepreneurial journeys and building thriving ecosystems worldwide. We back bold ideas with the potential to reshape entire industries—and we're just getting started. Port Innovation Ecosystem Reimagined @ BLOCK71, PIER71, was established in 2018 jointly by NUS Enterprise and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). PIER71 boosts innovation in the maritime and maritime-related industries by attracting talents, creating opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, attracting investments into start-ups, and accelerating ventures. The Role: Brand & Engagement Manager As Brand & Engagement Manager for PIER71, you'll shape how we connect with the maritime innovation community, from industry leaders and start-ups to partners and the public. From orchestrating flagship events to crafting compelling campaigns, you'll build experiences and narratives that elevate our brand, deepen engagement, and drive meaningful action. This is a hands-on role for a strategic marketer who thrives at the intersection of events, content, programme brand management, and stakeholder relations. You'll lead end-to-end campaign execution across platforms and programmes, ensuring every touchpoint, from social media posts to stage presentations, reflects PIER71's vision and inspires our community. Additionally, you may be required to interface with cross-functional areas with other NUS Enterprise programmes, ensuring brand alignment and leveraging synergies across the wider Innovation & Enterprise ecosystem. What You’ll Do Orchestrate flagship experiences – Lead end-to-end event management for maritime related events such as Singapore Maritime Week, Smart Port Challenge launches, and start-up showcases—from venue procurement and booth design to media coordination and on-site execution. Amplify our voice – Manage PIER71's online outreach channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, PIER71 website, WhatsApp), crafting and producing compelling content (Post, Reels, etc.), monitoring and engaging in online conversations, analysing performance, and optimising engagement across platforms to highlight PIER71 initiatives and the start-ups. Champion the brand – Serve as guardian of PIER71's brand identity, producing marketing collaterals, EDMs, newsletters, landing pages, and webpages that ensure consistency and communicate our mission with impact. Engage stakeholders strategically – Coordinate with start-ups, corporate partners, media, and investors to deliver cohesive messaging and strengthen relationships, while aligning narratives with NUS Enterprise communication strategies. Create with purpose – Curate media content, develop op-eds, and craft narratives that showcase PIER71's impact in the maritime innovation landscape. Own your craft – Drive projects from concept to budgeting to execution, managing timelines with minimal supervision and delivering excellence under pressure. 5+ years of experience in event management, marketing communications, and stakeholder engagement for dynamic organisations or innovation ecosystems. Proven track record of managing large-scale events end-to-end, including venue procurement, stakeholder coordination, media engagement, and on-site execution. Strong proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, social media management, email marketing systems (EDMs), website/landing page development, and analytics. Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability; you can develop the plan and roll up your sleeves to make it happen. Excellent project management and organisational skills with ability to juggle multiple campaigns and events simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring timely delivery. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences from start-ups to corporate partners. Experience in brand management, marketing collateral production, budget management, and vendor negotiation. Skills in content creation (copywriting, photography, basic video editing) to produce quick-turnaround assets. Proficient in design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), and entry-level video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or Final Cut Pro) to develop high-quality marketing assets and social media collaterals. Bonus Points For Experience in maritime, deep tech, innovation ecosystems, or start-up environments. Understanding of ESG and sustainability communication, especially relevant for maritime or innovation sectors. Knowledge of media relations, PR strategies, media pitching, and thought leadership development in institutional or educational contexts. Certified expertise in website design, photo editing, and/or video editing. Why Join NUS Enterprise? At NUS Enterprise, this role is your opportunity to be a strategic driver in Singapore’s vibrant innovation and start-up ecosystem especially for the maritime community. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping how our stories of entrepreneurship, groundbreaking research, and impactful programmes are communicated to the world. This is where creativity meets strategy, and your digital expertise directly contributes to inspiring the next generation of innovators and changemakers.
