Job Description Job Purpose The Contract Manager shall be responsible for the effective administration and management of the construction contract on site, ensuring full compliance with the Contract Agreement, FIDIC conditions, applicable UAE regulations, and the Client’s requirements. The role supports the Supervision Consultant in safeguarding contractual, commercial, and risk interests throughout project execution. Key Responsibilities Contract Administration Administer the construction contract in accordance with FIDIC Conditions of Contract (Red / Yellow Book, as applicable). Advise the Project Director / Resident Engineer on contractual rights, obligations, and risks. Manage contractual correspondence, notices, determinations, and formal communications. Ensure compliance with contractual procedures, timelines, and approval requirements. Claims & Variations Management Review and assess Variation Orders, Contractor claims, and change requests. Evaluate entitlement, quantum, and time impact in coordination with the technical and planning teams. Prepare contractual assessments, recommendations, and Engineer’s determinations. Maintain a comprehensive Variation and Claims Register. Payments & Commercial Control Review Interim Payment Applications (IPAs) and Final Accounts in coordination with the Quantity Surveyor. Verify contractual compliance related to payment, retention, advance payments, and deductions. Support the certification process in line with contract provisions. Time & Delay Management Review baseline and updated programmes from a contractual perspective. Assess Extension of Time (EOT) claims in coordination with the Planning Engineer. Monitor contractual milestones and notice requirements related to delay events. Risk & Compliance Identify contractual and commercial risks and propose mitigation measures. Ensure adherence to UAE laws, regulations, and local authority requirements. Support dispute avoidance and resolution through proactive contract management. Reporting & Coordination Prepare contractual reports, summaries, and dashboards for the Client and Consultant management. Coordinate closely with Resident Engineers, discipline engineers, planners, QS, and the Client/PMC. Support audits and provide contractual input during meetings and negotiations. Qualifications & Experience Mandatory Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or equivalent). Minimum 10–15 years of experience in construction projects, with significant exposure to contract management roles. Proven experience working within a Supervision Consultant or Engineer’s team in the UAE. Strong knowledge of FIDIC Conditions of Contract and contract administration practices. Preferred Experience on large-scale building, infrastructure, or mixed-use developments in the UAE. Familiarity with UAE authority requirements (ADM, DM, RAKM, etc.). Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, MRICS, FCIArb) are an advantage. SOE (UAE Society of Engineers) registration is an advantage. Skills & Competencies Strong contractual, analytical, and negotiation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication in English (Arabic is an advantage). High attention to detail and strong documentation skills. Ability to work independently on site and manage multiple stakeholders. Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving capability. Working Environment Site-based role within the Supervision Consultant’s team. Regular interface with the Client, Contractor, PMC, and authorities. May require extended working hours during critical project phases.
