Description Position Summary: Midland Scientific-East is seeking an ambitious Independent Sales Representative (1099 Contractor) to develop new business opportunities and support customers throughout the North Carolina territory. This position is ideal for a motivated sales professional who thrives in an independent, entrepreneurial environment and is driven by relationship-building and business development. Essential Functions: Pursue new sales opportunities through relationship building, prospecting, referrals, networking, trade shows, and in-person sales calls Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective customers Generate and follow up on quotes, proposals, and sales opportunities Provide exceptional customer support through responsiveness, consistency, and proactive communication Identify customer needs and recommend innovative laboratory and scientific supply solutions Maintain regular communication with Midland Scientific leadership and support teams Attend periodic sales meetings and product training sessions Independent Contractor Details: 1099 Independent Contractor position Commission-based compensation structure Contractor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, business expenses, and work equipment unless otherwise agreed upon Flexible schedule with autonomy in managing territory activities Opportunity for uncapped earning potential based on sales performance Requirements Required Skills: Strong relationship-building and customer service abilities Self-motivated professional with strong initiative and time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and manage a sales territory effectively Exceptional organizational and follow-through skills Education & Experience: Education: Bachelor's degree required, a degree in Biology, Chemistry or Supply Chain Management is preferred Experience: Prior outside sales experience required, especially in laboratory, scientific, industrial, or technical sales
