Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking expressions of interest for a Contractor Standing Capability Manager – Mission Systems.
The Contractor Standing Capability (CSC) Manager oversees an on-going pool of expertise to perform specialist engineering, design and other activities such as major change tasks and software integration or installation of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT).
The CSC Manager will lead and manage a team of engineers with various skill sets such as systems engineering, software engineering, system safety engineering, security engineering, verification and validation, engineering change management and logistics engineering.
The CSC Manager will liaise with the Commonwealth representative and be available as the ‘point of contact’ for all CSC matters

The key responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Manage, coordinate, prioritise and ensure delivery of the CSC Services according to DSD-ENG-CSC requirements.
  • Deliver engineering changes on time, to budget and to the required level of quality, including advising management on risks and issues that could affect the desired outcomes.
  • Monitor the progress of engineering team activities and facilitate the resolution of potential delays.
  • Identify and report resource constraints, schedule conflicts and other detrimental factors and provide mitigation plans.
  • Resolve deficiencies in order to effectively provide CSC support services to the Commonwealth.
  • Deliver monthly CSC progress reports to the Commonwealth representative.
  • Mentor and advise the CSC team members to achieve milestones and objectives.
  • Exercise technical oversight and assurance over the engineering activities via the cycle of systems engineering, configuration control and materiel support processes.
  • Provide governance of technical certification of systems including compliance with standards, specifications and regulations and assuring fitness for purpose on delivered systems.
  • Manage the required systems engineering services including requirements engineering, integration engineering, verification and validation, test and evaluation, mechanical, electrical, structural and safety engineering.
  • Conduct integrated planning, scheduling, risk management and estimating of work/tasks.
  • Provide oversight and support for all tasks, including integration guidance.
  • Monitor progress of tasks against the planned schedule and ensure that task phase and scale of reviews are optimised to allow activities to be planned efficiently and completed within the prescribed timeframe.
  • Perform specific management of critical and at-risk project tasks, including increased supervision of stakeholders and engineering functions, design reviews and set to work and integration planning.
  • Maintain financial awareness of budgets and expenditures.

Identify opportunities to assist with balancing the project budget.

  • Manage team resources regarding equipment, tools, training and mentoring.
  • Support recruitment activities as required to ensure capability is maintained to execute the project scope of work.
  • Work with the KBR Principal Engineer and deliver trusted advice to the customer’s Principal Engineer on risks and issues concerning technical integrity
