Our client, a successful, locally-rooted organization committed to its community, is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller.
This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Lower Sackville, NS, ideal for a proactive and hands-on financial leader ready to take ownership of the finance function across dynamic, project-driven operations.

EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or equivalent, preferred
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
  • Previous experience in retail, project-based, or service operations is highly desirable
  • Proficiency with financial systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, ERP solutions) and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical mindset and financial modeling abilities
  • High attention to detail ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and processes
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to identify and resolve issues early
  • Excellent judgment and analytical thinking to support strategic decisions
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across teams
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and bookkeeping activities
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and year-end)
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for multiple projects and retail operations
  • Ensure full compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory standards
  • Strengthen internal controls and streamline financial systems and processes
