THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving financial and operational excellence. Based out of our head office in Edmonton, Alberta, this position offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with a proven track record in financial management, compliance, and team leadership. As a key member of our management team, the Controller will oversee critical financial functions, contribute to strategic planning, and ensure the organization meets its financial and operational goals. The ideal candidate will also bring expertise in Sage accounting and time tracking software, Oil & Gas invoicing processes, Open Invoice software, and Jobutrax/Pandell Projects software. Familiarity with Ceridian Powerpay is an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or similar designation would be considered an asset.
  • 5–7 years of experience in a similar role, with extensive expertise in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in Sage accounting software, Open Invoice, and Jobutrax/Pandell Projects software (knowledge of Ceridian Powerpay is an asset).
  • Extensive experience in Oil & Gas invoicing processes and financial compliance.
  • Experience with assisting small to medium sized companies increase profitability and growth would be considered an asset.
  • Proficient in analyzing financial data to drive strategic decisions and operational improvements.
  • Strong understanding of financial compliance and risk management principles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external audits and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
  • Skilled in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage senior leadership and decision-makers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and achieve targets.
  • Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and resourceful, with a results-driven mindset and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • A collaborative team player who is adaptable and thrives in dynamic environments.
