JOB OVERVIEW:

The Accounting Manager will lead and oversee the accounting department, functioning as the controller for GBC Food Services, LLC. This role is pivotal in managing the company’s financial accounting systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The candidate must have extensive experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, with a strong preference for proficiency in NetSuite.
This role is best suited for a high-performing professional who thrives in a fast-paced, scaling organization. The Controller must balance strategic vision with hands-on execution and bring a proactive mindset to continuously drive efficiencies, process improvement, and financial innovation.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in accounting or finance.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Controller.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite ERP is required. 5+ years preferred.
  • CMA or CPA certification preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish clear performance goals and deliver ongoing feedback to drive professional growth and individual success.
  • Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations while supporting career development and succession planning.
  • Provide strategic direction to the team, ensuring alignment with company growth objectives, financial priorities, and evolving business needs.
  • Champion a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset within the department, encouraging innovation in accounting practices and systems.
  • Manage team capacity and priorities in a dynamic environment, ensuring successful execution of deliverables under tight timelines.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and retention efforts to build a resilient and adaptable accounting function capable of scaling with the organization.
  • Address performance or behavioral issues in accordance with company policy, upholding a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including billing, accounts receivable, franchise accounting, inventory, accounts payable, and general ledger.
  • Implement and maintain a system of internal controls that will ensure company assets are adequately safeguarded.
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, and special analyses.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly and year-end close processes.
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
  • Coordinate with the external tax firm and/or prepare tax schedules, returns, and information. Ensure the timing filing of all state and local sales & use and excise taxes.
  • Manage the budget reporting process, including analysis and reporting variances of actuals versus budget.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
  • Leverage the NetSuite ERP to improve processes and implement automation focus solutions into day-to-day accounting tasks.
  • Champion process automation, scalability, and technology adoption across the finance function to support rapid organizational growth.
  • Partner cross-functionally to align financial systems and reporting with evolving business needs and expansion strategies.
  • Anticipate the financial and operational needs of a scaling business, designing workflows and controls that evolve with growth.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership, contributing to broader business initiatives and long-term planning.
