POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, especially within the federal contracting environment. This role manages accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting systems while supporting the CFO and executive leadership team. The Controller provides financial stewardship by ensuring accuracy in all accounting functions, contract compliance, and audit readiness.
This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Essential Functions:
· Directs all day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
· Prepares, reviews, and analyzes financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and government contracting standards.
· Maintains compliance with FAR, DFARS, CAS, and other government regulations.
· Supports DCAA and DCMA audit requests and ensures the organization is audit-ready at all times.
· Oversees indirect rate structures, cost allocations, and project accounting.
· Prepares reports for internal management and external regulatory agencies.
· Manages billing and invoicing processes using government systems such as Wide Area Workflow (WAWF).
· Ensures timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
· Implements, monitors, and enforces internal controls and accounting policies.
· Partners with program managers to monitor contract performance, budgets, and compliance.
· Assists in proposal development and pricing support as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a government contracting environment.
· Experience with cost accounting, indirect rates, and project accounting.
· Experience managing compliance with DCAA and DCMA requirements.
· Experience with internal controls and financial statement preparation.
· Eligibility for DoD Secret clearance.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
· Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint or similar government accounting systems.
· Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or corporate integration.
