Our client in Toronto Ontario is looking for a Controller to join their team!

This position features:

  • Salary: $100,000-$110,000/year

Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm-Fully on site!
Employment Type: Full time permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Finance Department in all aspects of accounting activities – including Billing, A/R, A/P, G/L, Inventory/Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Perform month-end closing and prepare consolidated financial statements for bank reporting
  • Analyze variances and communicates explanations to management with recommended actions.
  • Prepare rolling forecasts in collaboration with other departmental managers.
  • Work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve corporate objectives.
  • Integrates and trains new staff while leading the continued professional development of the existing team.
  • Provides proactive / unsolicited consultation, interpretation and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions.
  • Collaborate with Operations Lead, accountants/analysts and senior management to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex analysis.
  • Monitor and implement internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks.
  • Ensures proper accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as local statutory requirements
  • Execute hedge strategy for FX.
  • Prepare consolidated year-end audit financial statements.
  • Liaise with external auditors for audit planning and provide supporting documentation and working papers as needed.
  • Review wires on a weekly basis against actual invoices and ensure/verify appropriate approvals.
  • Conduct working files for business insurance renewal.
  • Maintain product costing models in support of sales activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • CPA, CFA, or equivalent financial certification preferred.
  • 5-10+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, with experience in global financing programs.
  • Proven track record in financial planning, strategic decision-making, and managing financial operations at a senior level.
  • Excellent communication skills
