📢 Now Hiring: Controller – Mortgage & Banking Industry 📍 Onsite | San Diego, CA (92130) 💵 Compensation: $150,000–$185,000 per year, generous benefits, +PTO, 401k with match Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee daily accounting operations within a mortgage banking environment. This role is central to accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and GAAP compliance. If you thrive in a dynamic setting and bring deep mortgage accounting expertise, this is an excellent opportunity. 🔑 Key Responsibilities Supervise accounting staff and ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with policies. Manage daily accounting operations including A/P, A/R, reconciliations, deposits, wires, and expense tracking. Oversee accounting for related entities, including intercompany activity and consolidated reporting. Maintain structured daily–annual accounting routines and organizational systems. Manage cash flow, capitalization, budgeting, and spending controls. Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and quality control systems. Maintain professional relationships with bankers, attorneys, CPAs, and regulatory agencies. Monitor and report company performance including P&L, forecasts, and capitalization metrics. Provide insights to enhance cash management, reporting, operational performance, and KPIs. Manage trust accounts for all loan-related transactions. Lead month-end close, GL work, reconciliations, and KPI reporting. Conduct financial analyses for investment, pricing, and contract decisions. Ensure compliance with all mortgage banking regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML. Monitor daily account balances, anticipate funding needs, and ensure adequate coverage. Partner with CPA on tax returns, audits, and extension filings. Oversee treasury operations including funding, sweeping, and warehouse bank settlements. Monitor warehouse lines and loan funding based on cost of funds, capacity, and cash availability. 🎓 Qualifications Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance (Master’s or CPA preferred) 4–6+ years of mortgage banking accounting experience Strong understanding of mortgage banking accounting principles Proficiency with Loan Vision; Encompass experience a plus Advanced Excel skills Experience managing multiple or related entities Proven supervisory and leadership abilities- one direct report Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment *********LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY ************ Please Note: This position is open to candidates who are authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
