🏢 Controller – Commercial Real Estate & Development 📍 Lawrence, MA (Onsite with flexibility to work from the Boston office 1–2 days per week) 💰 $135,000–$150,000 + Generous Benefits 🎯 401(k) with 3% Match | Generous PTO | Long-Term Growth Opportunity A privately owned real estate investment and development company that has been building and managing properties since 1990 is seeking a Controller to help shape and lead the finance function for its growing portfolio. This is a rare opportunity to step into a highly visible role where you'll partner directly with executive leadership and help build processes, structure, and best practices from the ground up. What You'll Own Oversee accounting operations across multiple real estate entities Manage property accounting, property taxes, and insurance activities Lead CAM reconciliations across the portfolio Handle construction accounting for three active developments, including a major mixed-use "live/work/play" project currently underway Develop and manage WIP reporting, lien releases, and asset component tracking processes Build accounting workflows, SOPs, and financial controls for the real estate division Partner closely with the SVP of Asset Management to help establish and scale the finance function Supervise and mentor a team of 2–3 accounting professionals Introduce new ideas, efficiencies, and best practices to strengthen the organization Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across all entities Utilize Yardi to manage accounting and property-related functions Why This Role Is Unique This is a newly created function within a rapidly growing organization. Qualifications ✔ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field ✔ Commercial real estate accounting experience, including both property management and construction accounting ideally ✔ 5+ years of accounting expereince with Controller experience or a strong Accounting Manager ready to step into a Controller role ✔ Experience with CAM reconciliations and job costing ✔ Hands-on experience with Yardi ✔ Experience building, leading, and developing small teams ✔ Strong process improvement mindset and ability to implement best practices *************LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY ********* Please Note: This position is open to candidates who are authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
